There was a time when children’s health in the Birini community was left to chance. That is now changing. Driven by genuine concern for the youngest and most vulnerable, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) champion, along with the Wellness Committee, gathered the women of the community for an important conversation, one about keeping their children safe and healthy through the rainy season. Mothers listened as they were reminded of the quiet dangers that come with the rains, like stagnant water that children are drawn to play in. They were also reminded of the importance of feeding their little ones well, even when times are hard.
Wonderfully, the committee didn’t stop at words. After the session, they came bearing gifts—clothes for the children, a simple but deeply felt gesture that spoke louder than any speech. Among those present was Assanatou, a beneficiary who carried the gratitude of every woman in the room when she rose to speak. Her thanks were heartfelt, her words a reflection of what the whole community felt: that someone had seen them, heard them, and shown up for their children. This is what care looks like in action.
Thank you!
