Happier Hearts
A change of heart can be small, but the physical, emotional, and financial impact can create lasting impressions.
Nader’s mother is from the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group in New Minya and is married with three children. She shared that she was always arguing with her husband because of the living conditions and the pressure of life on them, and her husband often insulted her with bad words. She shared that when she was unable to put up with him, she demanded a divorce. However, at the time of the dispute, she was attending the self-healing classes that were offered through TCD, and she heard about a similar story to hers. She decided to forgive her husband, and her relationship with him is gradually improving.
Yotham is from the village of the Red Kom. He has three brothers, and their financial condition is very difficult. His father offered him a new bag for the new school year, but he told him that he did not need one. He will use his old backpack this year. When new backpacks were distributed to the TCD group, he was very happy and said that since his father could not buy him a bag, he was happy with the wonderful gift. Thank you for making a difference in children’s lives.
Jonathan is the oldest teenager of the TCD group in the village of Taha Al-Ammun. Jonathan was the most violent young man in dealing with others. He was also a rebel, but we have all seen a change in Jonathan because of his experiences with the TCD classes. We saw him help his friend during the last seed project while cleaning the school where they attend.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update
TCD© is GHNI’s coaching-based process for helping villages transform themselves and break the cycle of extreme poverty.
Income
24 loans were distributed to help poor families increase income, including loans for sewing, bird breeding, opening a grocery store, the creation and sale of detergents, and raising livestock.
Education
100 women were taught to read and write, and now these classes continue to increase. School backpacks were distributed to children of TCD groups to start a new school year.
Wellness
A medical clinic was implemented for the villages of Al-Dawadiya and Al-Shorfa, which included the specialties of internal medicine, ophthalmology, and orthopedics. The services were provided to 215 individuals in all specialties, which indicates the great effort made by the village committees in the organization.
Thank you,
