In Ngassa Village, there are two sorghum-growing seasons in a year. The first is the usual growing season, which happens during the rainy season. The second season comes after the rain ends, during the dry season. They sometimes plant again in the summer because the farms often flood during the rainy season, which results in very low yields. This has caused food insufficiency. Ngassa locals usually do not plant during the second season, and our Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers in Ngassa figured out laziness was the issue.

The TCD workers have been engaging the locals in conversations about food sufficiency and encouraged many to plant the second sorghum season this year, particularly because of the failure of crops in the first season. Some were convinced and planted in October.
