Birini is a community blessed with many resources that were previously unharnessed until the introduction of Transformation Community Development (TCD) programs. Now the locals see their community differently through the outside eye of TCD.

The Agriculture Committee is at the forefront of leading sustainable change for the community. They have demonstrated that agriculture can bring about the economic improvement the locals need. It is on this premise that they have secured a 12-hectare (30 acres) arable farm plot that the community will jointly cultivate to produce different food crops. As huge as this step is, there is also a challenge. The land is on the outskirts of the community, and there is a river separating the community from the land. This makes the land inaccessible, especially during the rainy season, because there is no bridge across the river.

The locals have accepted this challenge and are unrelenting in their desire to succeed. They have now started gathering materials to build a bridge across the river. They have already gathered sand and wood and are still mobilizing to get more materials for their bridge-building project. There is still a long way to go, but the journey to transformation has begun in earnest. The locals are optimistic that their desire for transformation will be truly achieved.
