Transformational Community Development (TCD) recorded a phenomenal beginning in Otono Village. An access road used by the locals to get to their farmlands and neighboring communities was overgrown with bushes and harbored harmful reptiles. Consequently, many locals, particularly children in the village, suffered from snake bites as a result of the overgrown path.

Shortly after the TCD meeting, which included vision casting and identification of needs and resources of the community, Agnes and Collins coached the community to engage the road issue, which the community identified as a top and urgent challenge. Through a community effort that turned out to be highly successful, young adults, older men, women, and teenagers worked together tirelessly for three days and cleared the road.

Thereafter, Agnes coached a five-man committee appointed to oversee the exercise of writing a report and a request letter to the Lira District Office requesting that the road be upgraded. The committee wrote the letter on behalf of Otono Village. A couple of weeks ago, the request letter received approval, and the road was graded with a caterpillar grader, making it smooth and drivable.

Through this phenomenal TCD initiative, Otono locals solved a long-standing community challenge that negatively impacted their wellness, freedom of movement, and commercial and agricultural activities.
