Villagers Solve Their Own Water Problem
Training in development is good, but putting what they learn into practice is what brings transformation.
“The hand pump brought huge happiness to the lives of Ramauli village. Villagers who had to go for an hour to collect water, now have it available within twenty minutes.”
The people of Ramauli, a cluster village of Ramantar, were desirous of Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons, so we invited leaders from that village to TCD training last year. As a result of TCD, some leaders worked diligently and provided two hand pumps for the community in coordination with other organizations and installed them in their village. This was very helpful to the community. It saves time and makes it easier and more accessible for all the people to have water for drinking, cooking, washing, and irrigation. Some people started vegetable gardens and made a good profit. Mr. Arjan* started an ornament-making business, which was more profitable and made a good income. They started their business after we gave small seed money. Now they are self-sustainable.
*For the purpose of safety and wellbeing, “Arjan” is a pseudonym for the individual being helped by this project.
Thank you!
