Madam Aina, a widow and a 45-year-old mother with five children, lives in the small village of Old Mosongo. For years, she struggled to access basic healthcare services and proper sanitation facilities. The community lacked VIP latrines, and people had to go among the bushes to defecate. The situation was dire, especially for pregnant women, young children, and the aged.

Aina’s family, like many others, also relied on an unsafe water source and used traditional pit latrines, which posed serious health risks. She recalls the countless times her children fell ill due to waterborne diseases. The village was trapped in a cycle of poverty, and the lack of infrastructure hindered development.

The Transformation Community Development (TCD) project arrived in Old Mosongo, bringing renewed hope. The project includes free medical services, and Madam Aina was among the first beneficiaries of this new facility. The project also introduced VIP latrines, providing hygienic sanitation facilities for the community. The community was happy because it significantly improved their living conditions.

The free medical services and latrines transformed Aina’s life. Her children are healthier, and she is now an advocate for community health and sanitation. She encourages neighbors to use the latrines. Aina’s story is a testimony to the power of community development projects, which have empowered her family and inspired positive change in Old Mosongo.
