This is the success story of a poor woman who became self-sustaining after being influenced by TCD education. Through what she learned, she is now able to support her family and run her household with confidence.

Edha* and her husband have two sons. As soon as they were born, a big problem came to her family: her husband was suddenly paralyzed and he could not move from his waist to his legs. The family had difficulty getting  daily food. She, her two little children, and her husband were sick. Due to the stress of financial problems in her family, she could not sleep at night and spent the whole night crying. Besides the problem of finding something to eat during the day, there was the problem of not having money for her bedridden husband’s treatment.

This sad situation was drowning them, and all their relatives were also poor so no one could help. The days in her life passed in such sorrow and life was so difficult. At that time, Transformational Community Development (TCD) was also happening in her village, and she became a member of the TCD program. From the TCD class, she gained knowledge and seed money.

By utilizing the seed money well, she opened a small grocery shop and the income from the shop helped her run the family household. She started buying some medicine for her husband. The poverty and suffering that she had experienced before TCD started to gradually change toward financial security for her family. The tears of sorrow that she used to shed daily were now tears of joy as TCD transformed her life.  Now she happily sends her two sons to school.

TCD brought a big change in Edha’s finances that people from other communities were surprised and are now eager to learn about TCD. Edha is setting an example and inspiring other people. She is very grateful to the GHNI organization from the bottom of her heart .
