Women Believe Change Begins at Home

Dedicated mothers lead the way to lasting transformation.

Dedicated mothers lead the way to lasting transformation. - Women Believe Change Begins at Home

In the aftermath of the regional war, the families of Khar Nan Thit village found themselves displaced and struggling to survive in a new, unfamiliar location. Caught in the grip of extreme poverty, community members lacked the resources and the self-belief necessary to rebuild their lives. The primary obstacle was not just a lack of capital, but a lack of a clear pathway toward self-sufficiency, leaving many trapped in a cycle of despair and daily survival. Without a structured intervention, the community faced a future of long-term dependency and physical hardship.

Recognizing that women are the heartbeat of family wellness and management, a group of dedicated mothers stepped forward to serve as the village’s role models through the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program. These women understood that for the community to prosper, change had to begin at home. By implementing practical knowledge and shifting household behaviors, they achieved a significant improvement in family health within just three months. Leveraging their influence over their children and husbands, these 20 passionate women—each representing a different household—established a formal savings group to create the village’s first internal resource for Income Generation.

Today, the savings group is fully operational under the guidance of the community champion and dedicated committee leaders. The committee has established a rigorous structure, including monthly savings targets and a 5% interest model designed to grow the community fund. We are proud to report that this month, the committee aims to reach its first major milestone: funding a small business for a member family. By prioritizing projects like livestock breeding and grocery expansion, the TCD women’s committee is not just distributing funds; they are building a sustainable, community-owned financial ecosystem that ensures long-term impact and prosperity for all of Khar Nan Thit.
