Working Towards Health
Collaborating with the closest health center, Bomborma vaccinated their most vulnerable.
Bomborma is located about 20 miles from the nearest health center or medical facility. The closest access to medical attention is located in the distant community of Hanga, which is difficult to get to due to poor road networks and a very limited number of poorly working vehicles and motorcycles. Sometimes, people who need urgent medical attention, like pregnant women and children, have to resort to risky “traditional” methods and remedies due to the lack of an accessible health center.
Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) team, with support from the community, organized a medical outreach to meet some of the health needs of the community. They invited a special medical team from the health center in Hanga to pay a visit to the people of Bomborma, where they conducted immunizations and vaccinations for polio and malaria and treated other medical issues. The Wellness Team also created an awareness program on hygiene and cleanliness, the importance of correct dosage for medication, and other measures to improve the community’s health. They also made a commitment to visit the community on a regular basis to attend to, follow up on, and minimize serious health cases.
Thank you!
