Nestled amidst breathtaking natural beauty, Mae Muang Luang Village is a vibrant home to the Karen communities. With access to electricity, mobile networks, and abundant natural resources, you might think life here is picture-perfect. But beneath the surface lies an urgent need for one of life’s most basic necessities: clean drinking water.
Dee Por, a community leader, shared a glimpse of their daily struggle:
“When we want to drink water, we first have to filter it through a white cloth and boil it. But when we saw the community water filtration system at Pakham (a Transformational Community Development (TCD) community in 2023), it planted a seed of hope. We realized that we could build something like that too. A community water filter here would not only give us clean drinking water but also demonstrate the power of love and unity through sharing and helping one another.”
This dream sparked action. Inspired by Pakham’s success, our TCD team in Thailand began collaborating with Mae Muang Luang Village to embark on a journey of transformation. Together, we launched a project to bring clean drinking water to their community.
Through TCD training, we equipped the villagers with knowledge and tools for sustainable development. Ajarn Tienchai from Pakham Village, who was instrumental in their own community’s growth, joined us to share his experience and guide the villagers.
What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. We saw love and determination come alive in the villagers’ teamwork. Despite the challenge of gathering resources from a river far from the village, they pressed on, fueled by a shared vision. Over just two days, the community built their very own water filtration system—a testament to their unity and resilience.
But the impact didn’t stop there. News of the water filter spread beyond the village. Visitors—including government officials, students, and nearby villagers—came to witness this remarkable achievement. Dee Por spoke with pride:
“This filter isn’t just about clean water for our village. It’s become a source of inspiration. It supports our children’s education and shows how a small idea can ripple out to touch many lives.”
Mae Muang Luang’s story is one of hope, determination, and the power of coming together. Through love and collaboration, the village has turned a dream into a reality—one that continues to inspire far beyond their borders.
Thank you!
