Gradually Growing Gardens
Difficult conditions are overcome with collective effort.
Saron, a youth from Shri Ambra Village, observed that many families in his community lack kitchen gardens for healthy food. Although people have land and interest in kitchen gardening, farming new crops is not widely practiced. One of the major challenges is the lack of water for irrigation, which discourages families from taking initiative and working together toward self-sustainability.
Through Transformational Community Development (TCD), Saron is thinking of starting a kitchen garden himself to set an example for other community members. With encouragement and coaching from TCD staff, he is learning how small, manageable steps—using limited water and local resources—can still bring change. His desire is not only for personal benefit but also to inspire unity and show the community that even in difficult conditions, collective effort can lead to solutions.
Though the water problem remains, there is strong hope in Shri Ambra. If the community comes together through TCD, Saron believes there is a way for everyone to benefit—where families support one another, start kitchen gardens, and gradually farm new crops. This growing vision is helping the village move toward unity, resilience, and a more self-sustaining future.
Thank you,
