Being the Source of Encouragement
From needing encouragement to being the encouragement, one woman realizes she can be a source of strength and positivity.
The Transformational Community Development (TCD) program provided women with lessons on the importance of encouragement in building strong family relationships and balanced communities. During one of the sessions, Mrs. Umm Karlos shared her experience, explaining how she relied on the support and encouragement of her family as a source of strength and positive energy. After her parents’ deaths, she felt a loss of passion in life due to the absence of this motivation, but after listening to the session, she realized that encouragement should not stop with the absence of those who gave it, but rather we can be a source of support for those around us, especially for our children and husbands. From here, Umm Karlos decided to continue the path of encouragement, to be supportive of her children, husband, and others, believing that positive words make a big difference in a person’s life.
We also focused on clean water issues. Many families in Ezbit el Nakhl cannot obtain clean drinking water, which has led to the emergence of kidney problems such as stones, pus, and infections. Umm Romani says, “My son underwent three surgeries to remove kidney and urinary tract stones due to unclean water and our limited income. We learned in TCD lessons how to purify water by boiling it, but when I boil the water, a layer of scum appears on top of it, and it is not completely clean. After I received a seven-stage RO filter for water purification, my children and I can drink clean water, and we can live in good health. I am very happy that you provided 26 families in the neighborhood with water filters. Thank you, GHNI!”
Thank you,
