In Nhoma village, 700 people wake up each morning with dreams of a better future for their children. Parents walk miles to tend their farms, hoping to earn just enough to feed their families. Children gather in an overcrowded schoolroom, eager to learn despite having few supplies. When illness strikes, families face impossible choices without access to healthcare or clean water.
Yet beneath these challenges lies incredible potential. The people of Nhoma are ready to transform their community – they just need the tools and training to make it happen. Through Transformational Community Development (TCD), your gift can help turn their determination into lasting change.
Over the next 3-5 years, you can help Nhoma’s families create their own success story. Imagine: clean water flowing in the village center, children excelling in a well-equipped school, farmers learning new techniques to increase their harvests, and families building sustainable businesses. By investing in leadership training and community-driven solutions, you’re not just providing temporary relief – you’re empowering an entire village to break free from poverty.
Will you help Nhoma’s families build the future they dream of?

Be one of the first to help us begin Transformational Community Development in Nhoma Village as the first project in Guinea Bissau! Your gift won’t just help transform one village – it will create a model of success that spreads throughout Guinea Bissau. By supporting this community at this pivotal moment, you’ll help establish the essential building blocks of development for a whole country while empowering local leadership to guide their own journey forward.
Barbara and Leroy are excited to participate as a team in Hike4Hope25, combining their love for adventure with a deep commitment to global missions. Barbara, a Human Resources Administrative Assistant, hiked from Yosemite Village to Half Dome and back in a single day and has explored many national parks with Leroy. Leroy, a full-time pastor and retired engineer, has also hiked extensively across national parks and recently completed 60 miles in one week, including volcano treks in Guatemala. Their journey with GHNI includes a transformative trip to Jordan, where they witnessed the impact of sustainable transformation. They’ve also served through disaster relief and mobility missions abroad. With a shared passion for spreading the gospel and helping underprivileged communities, they hope to raise awareness and support for GHNI’s work in Nhoma Village, Guinea Bissau.
