In the remote village of Binodpur, India, earning a livelihood is a significant challenge. Many men migrate to cities for jobs, and sometimes women follow, often working as housemaids. Unfortunately, these women can face dangers, including human trafficking. The lack of local employment opportunities leaves families struggling to make ends meet and vulnerable to exploitation.

To address this, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) team initiated efforts to empower women by helping them earn an income using their skills while staying in the village. This includes starting small ventures such as tea stalls and raising country chickens. Additionally, a workshop was organized this month to further develop their skills. During the workshop, one of the village women taught others how to make mats using palm leaves and how to create woolen foot mats.

The TCD team continues to focus on Income Generation initiatives to ensure that every woman in the village can earn for herself, providing security and empowerment. This ongoing support helps the women contribute to their families without the need to migrate to cities. By partnering with organizations like GHNI, the community aims to build sustainable livelihoods, reflecting the belief that investing in women means investing in the betterment of society as a whole.
