In the Effaoho community, Maman Sombie is one of the pioneer members of the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation Committee. She unfortunately lost her husband two years ago, but she continues to flourish in her palm oil production business to the extent that she is now an employer. Maman Sombie has eight other women who work with her at her production site.

They report that they now process as much as five tons of the palm fruit thanks to access to the processing machine that was donated to the community. This donation has made a difference in the speed and ease of their processing and makes them stand out from other members of the community who are yet to be affiliated with TCD.

Transformation and sustainable development have truly been achieved in the TCD community. They report that one kg of the palm oil fruit can be sold for as much as 75 CFA, approximately 0.13 USD. Maman Sombie and her workers are indeed an inspiring success story.
