The new community center in the Polewali TCD (Transformational Community Development) village is already proving to be worth the effort. The center was completely conceptualized, funded, and constructed by the village TCD committee and has received 100% support from the community. It has become a pleasant place for the community to meet for all kinds of activities including early childhood education, skills training, and various community meetings.

The women’s soap-making group has moved their operations to the center as well, and this month they received a visit from local government officials. Hadi*, the head of the subdistrict sat and chatted with the ladies and with TCD committee members for more than two hours. He was particularly impressed that this was a local initiative with no outside support. After learning about the soap-making process and being given samples of the product, Hadi instructed his staff to involve the product in future exhibitions at the provincial and national level to display the creativity and resourcefulness of the area. May the TCD spirit continue to inspire and spread to surrounding villages toward the transformation of communities.
