Raising Income and Health Standards

Otono Village may be at the beginning of their TCD journey, but they are already making excellent strides.

Otono villagers with their newly acquired goats. - Raising Income and Health Standards

The year opened up with Otono Village forming committees to represent each of the five Transformational Community Development (TCD) core values. After the groups formed, leaders were elected to help lead the teams.

About forty people were trained in soap making, an integral part of Income Generation. In addition, a cooperative group has been formed this quarter with the aim of empowering the villagers through a village savings and loan program. An in-house meeting was held by the executive members, presided over by Mr. Odopo, the mayor of Etam Town Council. For initial monitoring’s sake, the executive members became the first beneficiaries of a goat loan program. After the test run, other members will benefit from this program.

A meeting was held to tackle issues related to health. We had different groups asking questions and discussing health, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition. The awareness talk was an interactive session, and we thank TCD for this initiative in coming to Otono Village.

Thank you!
