Water Responsibly

The Kouvome community is taking their borehole duties very seriously.

The green & brown borehole at Kouvome Village. - Water Responsibly

In the past, the Kouvome community struggled severely with water scarcity, especially during the dry season when water sources dried up completely. Families rationed what little water they could find, and men often managed to bathe only three times a week. This long-standing challenge affected hygiene, daily activities, and overall well-being.

Through the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program, the community now enjoys a solar-powered borehole that provides reliable, clean water. Women express great joy, and the entire community is celebrating this transformation. They have maintained the borehole environment responsibly, keeping it clean and safe. The next step is to organize the community into four groups, each appointing representatives who will take turns cleaning the borehole area once every month to ensure sustainability.
