Fantastic Fungus!
Although they are grown in darkness, mushrooms are bringing life and light to the people of Shri Ambra.
Shri Ambra, a small village in Dumka, Jharkhand, is home to families where an average household consists of four to five members, with only one earning member—often a laborer receiving limited income. Recognizing this challenge, we, as Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers, organized a mushroom cultivation training for over 40 participants.
The training focused on equipping villagers with practical skills in mushroom farming, including how to grow mushrooms, sourcing raw materials, and finding market opportunities. This initiative not only introduced them to an alternative source of income but also empowered them with the confidence to start small-scale mushroom farms at home.
As a result, some participants have already begun cultivation, and we are actively encouraging more community members to join. By expanding this initiative, we aim to create sustainable livelihoods and financial stability for the villagers, reducing their dependency on daily wage labor.
Thank you,
