Baribeda Village, India

In Baribeda, a remote Santal tribal village of 34 families in India, extreme poverty and a lack of irrigation infrastructure forced families into seasonal migration and kept school attendance critically low. To break this cycle, GHNI partnered with local leaders through TCD to establish initiatives in education, health, and agricultural income generation. Today, the village is successfully transforming: families are generating year-round income by cultivating innovative off-season crops, turning what was once a “dead season” of dry fields into a thriving harvest of hope. By replacing seasonal migration with sustainable farming, Baribeda is securing a stable, healthy, and educated future for its children.
