Garlic and a Latrine Improve Family Life
Something as simple as growing garlic and having a latrine can improve a family’s physical and financial life.
Murmu works in tailoring. He and his wife have two daughters, so they are a family of four. They had a raw (mud) toilet which was not usable. They had to use other people’s toilets or they would go outside. Through Transformational Community Development (TCD) training, they became aware of the importance of toilet usage. With the help of TCD, a brick toilet was built for them. Now They don’t have to use other people’s toilets. They are very happy to get a good toilet and are very grateful to the TCD project for building the toilet for them.
Along with this, they have a small garlic field which will meet the needs of their house. Hopefully this year they don’t have to buy garlic, rather they can sell some and earn money.
Murmu thanks the TCD project for constantly encouraging their family to stay healthy and improve financially. He said that they became successful in raising their family income sources because of TCD.
Thank you!
