Like every other village, the first quarter in Yelivo recorded impressive progress. We believe so much in educating the people; as a result, a lot of training and awareness programs were organized with the aim of enlightening and educating community members.

With the help of Transformational Community Development (TCD) activities, many measures have been put in place to help boost the income of the average farmer. Recently, the community secured aid from an organization that helps buy and resell corn. The organization itself buys the harvested corn from community farms in order to encourage them. The TCD committee did the same thing, buying from others to resell and make a profit. They have made a profitable increase from this business and are set for another season to buy and sell the corn.

With the teachings of TCD, farmers are beginning to care more about improving farming techniques. The leader of the Food Committee and the champion of the village visited a cassava farm in order to see how it grows. The committee plans to enlarge the farm during the next planting season.

The community members have recently received training in the area of personal and environmental hygiene. The TCD champion taught the importance of washing fruit and hands before eating.

The TCD team plans to engage more of the children next training time. The committee also plans to enlarge farms during the next planting season. Despite the recent work, a lot still needs to be put into place in order to reach our goals. We will continue to work hard in the coming months.
