Simple Hygiene Changes
Making simple changes in hygiene practices makes an immeasurable difference in villagers’ lives.
My name is Qurii. I was delighted to join the hard-working women who formed a partnership to work together to improve their lives. My neighbor, who was part of the group, would often visit my house to share what she had learned from their weekly Transformational Community Development (TCD) sessions. At that time, I was struggling with my child, who has mental health challenges, and was unable to attend the meetings.
One day, a TCD worker visited me and encouraged me to join the team. During our sessions, we learned about simple methods of filtering water. Previously, my son suffered from diarrhea and other bacterial diseases. I was initially skeptical, thinking that people came to teach us just to deceive us. However, I decided to try the method and repeated it regularly. Now, we have water available at the toilet gate, and we boil our drinking water. I have noticed a significant improvement in my son’s health.
I no longer miss a single day of the weekly sessions, and I voluntarily joined the Water Committee, where we discuss our community’s problems and propose solutions. I am truly happy to be part of this initiative. Through the TCD program, I received a goat loan. Now, my goat is pregnant, and I am hopeful that this will lead to further growth and prosperity.
Thank you!
