Poor hygiene has been a major concern to the members of the Kouti community and is a major reason for the increase in illness and diseases affecting women and children. During the month of March, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Wellness Committee led a campaign on handwashing among the women of the community with the hope that such enlightenment would then spread to their husbands and children, improving the health of entire families. The women were taught the importance of handwashing, especially after use of the toilet, farm chores, and before meals. Further TCD lessons were taught about sanitary toilet/latrine maintenance and the importance of regular sanitation and general cleanliness for good health. Having experienced the benefits of good health through the application of TCD, the community hopes to invite more medical campaign partners to inspire them to take more steps in achieving sustainable development through community health.

Kouti has also begun implementing TCD concepts for Income Generation through the processing of palm nuts to produce red oil (palm oil), which is then sold for profit. This is thanks to the donated palm oil processing machine, which has positively changed the lives and means of livelihood of the members of the community.
